Carlo joined the PWYP team in October 2010. Carlo’s main role is facilitate the PWYP campaign throughout the continent, with a focus on six main areas: developing a common PWYP Africa strategy; promoting regional and sub-regional advocacy initiatives; defining and implementing a security strategy for Africa campaigners; ensuring effective communication between national coalitions; reinforcing PWYP Africa regional governance; developing capacities and providing support to national coalitions and members.
Carlo has much experience related to civil society and citizens’ participation in development processes, both as member of civil society organizations and as a development practitioner within NGOs and multi-lateral organizations mainly in Africa and South America. His academic and professional experiences has given him the opportunity to confront different social and cultural contexts as well as a variety of approaches to combatting social exclusion, enhancing social accountability and promoting locally-owned development processes and people empowerment. Carlo gained in-depth knowledge of the EITI while working in Equatorial Guinea, gaining a broad understanding of the process and its stakeholders, their roles and challenges.
