Strategic Advisory Group

Given the massive growth of the coalition in recent years, a Strategic Advisory Group (SAG) was established in 2006 to oversee strategic planning and ensure more systematic oversight of the implementation of advocacy activities. The SAG is comprised of 12 representatives from a broad spectrum of PWYP members from around the world.

PWYP International Strategy Meeting

Representatives from the entire coalition meet every two years for an international strategy meeting. The overall objectives of the meeting are to:

  • Review recent progress made on PWYP’s international advocacy and strategic priorities;
  • Build consensus on international advocacy strategies for the two years ahead;
  • Evaluate opportunities to strengthen, re-enforce and broaden civil society participation in the global resource revenue transparency movement;
  • Exchange lessons-learned and best practices.

PWYP International Coordinator

PWYP has an International Coordinator (IC) based in London to coordinate and support the global coalition in advocacy, capacity building and coalition outreach.

PWYP Regional Coordinators

PWYP has one full-time regional coordinator for Africa, who is responsible for supporting the PWYP Africa members in outreach, advocacy and capacity building efforts.

PWYP National Coordinators

PWYP has coordinators for all national affiliated coalitions, who are responsible for coordinating the local goals and priorities, with support from members of their national coalition.

Management Committees

The international and Africa coordinators, in addition to some PWYP national coordinators are supported and overseen by management committees (MC). The committees consist of a number of PWYP members and exist to support the coordinators and supervise their performance according to their job descriptions and work plans. The committees are not decision-making entities of the coalition and do not set the policies and direction of the campaign.

Members of these committees do often play an active advocacy role in PWYP and contribute to the activities of the coalition in much the same way as other members do. However these roles are kept separate from their responsibilities as a management committee.
