PWYP member the Revenue Watch Institute is establishing six regional “knowledge hubs” in partnership with academic institutions to offer training and support for civil society organizations, members of parliament and journalists to help them analyze issues linked to oil, gas and mining, and develop robust advocacy campaigns. Hubs are operational in Anglophone Africa, Latin America, and Eurasia. By the end of 2012, new hubs will be established in Francophone Africa, Asia-Pacific, and Middle East/North Africa.
PWYP member the Revenue Watch Institute is leading pilot media capacity building projects in Ghana and Uganda. RWI is working with the Thomson Reuters Foundation, African Centre for Media Excellence in Uganda and the International Institute for ICT Journalism (Penplusbytes) in Ghana to help strengthen the skills and knowledge of journalists so they can improve their coverage.
PWYP member the Revenue Watch Institute is leading parliamentary projects in Ghana, Tanzania, Sierra Leone, Uganda, Iraq and Indonesia. Parliamentary projects build successful partnerships between lawmakers, civil society and media to combat poverty, especially by focusing on the maximization, collection and use of revenues from the oil, gas and mining sectors.
PWYP member the Revenue Watch Institute supports subnational projects that build the capacity of local governments and indigenous communities to effectively collect and use extractive industry revenues. The projects also build the capacity of civil society organizations to actively engage in decisions over the use of finite local resources. Pilot projects are currently underway in several countries including Peru, Ghana, Nigeria and Indonesia.
