On October 19, from 3 – 8 p.m. at the Carondelet Center in St. Paul, an Africa Summit will be held to address the issues of the World Bank´s recent withdrawal from the Chad-Cameroon Oil Pipeline Project, which was to serve as a “model extractive industry project” and, instead, has aggravated the already difficult economic, political and social situation of the country over the long term. Sponsored by the Justice and Peace Task Force of the Presbytery of the Twin Cities, the Summit will provide participants with the information necessary to support positive changes in our nation´s foreign policy.

The keynote speaker will be Sarah Pray, Publish What You Pay U.S. Coordinator, who is responsible for the facilitation of all advocacy work of the U.S. Publish What You Pay campaign, which lobbies for government and corporate transparency and accountability in the oil, gas and mining industries. Dinner will be served at the conclusion of the event. All are invited. Please RSVP to http://africasummit.eventbrite.com/ There is no charge for this event, but donations are welcome.
