Natural resources include soda ash, titanium, iron ore, manganese, diatomite and gold. Soda ash production makes up 4% of the world’s total, but overall Kenya’s mining sector does not for the moment contribute a great deal to the economy. Nevertheless, activity in the sector has been increasing and as further deposits are discovered in the country there has been talk of Kenya being on the verge of a ‘mineral boom’.
