Objective
Publish What You Pay (PWYP) members promote the public disclosure of extractive industry contracts and call for licensing procedures to be carried out transparently and in line with best international practice.
Transparency of government expenditure
Objective
Publish What You Pay (PWYP) members work towards open, participatory and transparent budget processes at national, regional and local levels in order to ensure the effective allocation and management of oil, gas and mining revenues.
Context
It is impossible to ensure proper management of natural resource wealth by looking exclusively at revenues.
Transparency of company payments and government revenues
Objective
Publish What You Pay (PWYP) members work to achieve transparency of oil, gas and mining company payments to governments where they extract, and of government revenues earned from the extractive industry including payments to local authorities, as a necessary first step towards a more accountable system for the management of natural resources.
Context
Two thirds of the world’s poorest people live in countries rich in natural resources. In most countries, sub-soil minerals belong to the state.
