Natural resources include phosphates, marble and limestone. Togo is one of the world’s largest producers of phosphate and seeks to develop its carbonate phosphate reserves. In January 2013 Premier African Minerals secured two permits for gold exploration in Dapaong, Northern Togo.

Recent activities

2 July 2022 - PWYP Togo and CISLAC (member of PWYP Nigeria) put out a joint statement where they listed a series of future actions and recommendations, based on their exchange visit.

24 - 28 June 2022 - PWYP Togo hosted an exchange visit of PWYP members in Nigeria. Over the four days they organised sessions with parliamentarians, journalists, EITI Technical Secretariat as well as other NGOs.

14 March 2022 - PWYP Togo officially launched

17-21 September 2012 - Members of PWYP from Togo took part in PWYP’s Ten Year Anniversary Conference

12-15 June 2012 - Members of Togolese civil society participated in PWYP’s Francophone Africa Conference

21 March 2022 - A capacity building workshop (on how to analyse EITI reports) was held. Following this workshop, a road map was established towards the creation of PWYP Togo

17 January 2022 - A workshop for exchange of experiences and capacity building for CSOs involved in PWYP and EITI was organised

1st August 2011 - Amis de la Terre Togo signed an MoU with WaterLex aiming to strengthen the capacities of civil society organisations campaigning for economic transparency

25 March 2022 - CARITAS-Togo and Amis de la Terre-Togo organised a one day reflection on how a coalition in Togo could be launched

1-3 March 2011 - Members of Amis de la Terre-Togo attended the EITI Global Conference in Paris

28 january 2022 - Members of Amis de la Terre-Togo participated in PWYP’s regional workshop in Burkina Faso
